Description

Plymouth gin is synonymous in the history of gin.

We were fortunate to have the current Plymouth team, visit Atlas in 2016, and a fascinating history of their gins, was told.

Originating back to 1793, and it’s naval linked city and seaport, of the same name. Plymouth gin can only legally be made in Plymouth, and no-where else.

The Black Friars Distillery is the oldest working distillery in England.

The recipe is unchanged, and includes seven botanicals:

juniper, sweet orange peel, cardamom pods, which are hand counted, coriander seeds, lemon peel, angelica root and orris root,

Grain spirit forms the base, although they did change to sugar cane, at one point, which was a mistake!

The one shot distillation method is used, and each one can deliver 20000 bottles.

Plymouth has a much more ”earthy” flavour than a London Dry.

Enjoy with tonic, and a traditional lemon garnish.
