Description

So this is the first gin, in our GinBible, where the distillery specialises in making gin and pasties!

No, we are just pulling your leg, they actually produce pastis!

The first pastis to be made in the UK, and a take on the French anise classic.

The South Western Distillery, where Tarquin’s is created, is an independently owned family company, creating artisan gins, in small batches, and pasties in tiny batches, on the Cornish Coast.

Sitting at the heart of their process, lies a special, flame-fired, copper pot still called ”Tamara.” The goddess of Tamar.

Named after Tarquin, their founder, pioneer and head distiller, he is so proud of his gin that he puts his name on every bottle!

Tarquin’s gin is Cornwall’s first for over a century, and won a Gold medal at the San Francisco World Spirits competition in 2016 and Gold at the IWSC in 2014.

A contemporary take, on a classic London Dry, the Tarquin’s team use Devon violets and fresh orange zest to deliver an aromatic sensation.

It is the delicate Devon violet leaves, which add the green freshness to this gin.

The full botanical mix is:

juniper from Kosovo, coriander seeds from Bulgaria, orange, lemon and grapefruit zests, angelica from Poland, orris from Morocco, green cardamom from Guatemala, bitter almond from Morocco, cinnamon from Madagascar, liquorice from Uzbekistan and the violets? Well they come from their Cornish garden!

The perfect serve is with a tonic and lime garnish, affectionately known as a ”Quin and Tonic.”
