Description

In 1996, Todd Loepold received his diploma in malting and brewing from the Siebel Institute of Technology in Chicago.

His brother, Scott, gained a degree in production and marketing. He also gained a Masters in Environmentally sustainable manufacturing, from the famous Stanford University.

Already you can see where this story is headed!

In 1999, the brothers opened Leopold Bros. Brewery, in Ann Arbour, Michigan.

Brewing beers and lagers, initially, they moved on to spirits in 2001.

In 2008, they moved the business, back to their home in Colorado, where it is still based.

Leopolds Gin was first released in 2001, and it feels special, and loved, the minute that you see the bottle.

Each one is hand labelled, and hand numbered.

Most gins are distilled by simultaneously distilling juniper, and other botanicals, within the same still; this delivers a drier tasting gin profile, and pulls out the tannin’s more.

Leopold’s distill each botanical separately, which brings out the purest flavours and aromas.

The botanicals used are:

juniper, coriander, pummelos, orris root and Valencia oranges.

Perfect with a premium tonic and orange garnish, this gin deserved to win Gold at the 2013 IWSC Awards.

With only 50 cases made a year, this really is a treat.
