Description

Saffron Gin is produced by the Gabriel Boudier Distillers, in Dijon, France.

Their heritage in spirit making goes back to 1874.

This gin was launched fairly recently, in 2008, and came about because they were asked to create a London Dry Gin.

When the team thought about British modern culture, they realised that curry was as much a favourite, as beef and Yorkshire puddings!

Saffron being a key botanical in curry, but also working well with juniper, and thus the gin was born!

This is small batch gin, produced in a traditional pot still from a wheat based spirit..

Made from nine botanicals which include:

juniper, saffron, orange and lemon peel, coriander, angelica, iris and fennel.

The addition of the saffron, in the process, actually results in this not being able to be called or classified as a London Dry!

The saffron flower takes pride of place on the label, and delivers this gins beautiful colour. It is also one of the worlds most expensive botanicals, at that!

The dominant flavour in the gin, is coriander, rather than saffron, however.

We recommend a premium tonic with a generous orange garnish, as our perfect serve.
