We love it at Atlas when we feel a real connection with a gin brand, and The West Winds, is most certainly, one of those!
Elaine, Atlas’ owner, went to live and work in Australia, in 2015, and on her first trip there, she and her husband, Mark, came across this brand.
Having made contact with the West Winds Team, and being the first bar in Manchester to stock the brand, one of the founders, Jez Spencer, and World Award Winning Cocktail Maestro, Jason ‘Jacki’ Chan, came to Atlas, in summer 2015.
Not only did they launch the gin here, but gave our team a fantastic, and memorable Masterclass!
Jez, and the other three founders of The West Winds Gins, Jason, Paul and James, just wanted to create a ”damn fine Gin from Australia.”
The Sabre and The Cutlass, were their first two gins, and then came The Broadside.
This limited edition run by The West Winds uses the Cutlass gin as it’s base and is then aged in Maidenii Australian Vermouth barrels made with wormwood, strawberry gum, river mint and Wattle Seed.
This gin is perfect to be enjoyed neat over ice or as a Negroni.
